Blacks and neutrals have a fairly prominent place in our closets, but after a long week, we could really use a wake-up call. Enter Nanette Lepore's resort '12 lookbook, an escape for our weary eyes with prim-and-proper pieces tied up in the cheeriest of hues.
Though we would expect nothing less from the notoriously flirty, feminine designer, we're mostly drawn in by unexpected combinations of flouncy frocks, structured jackets, and hot-hued peacoats in shades of bright green, red, and blue. Combined with unique pieces — such as multi-colored tailored shorts mixed with a preppy orange top or french sailor stripes with accordion-pleated skirts — Nanette Lepore's latest lookbook has given us a reason to break away from our comfortable color palette and dote on a new kind of ladylike look, one with unapologetic brights that shake us out of our rut.
