The Anti-Holly Jolly Guide To Metallic Makeup

Photographed by David Cortes.
Let’s be real for a second: You would probably be a touch mortified if you showed up to a holiday party wearing the same dress as someone else, right? In fact, you may be thinking about forsaking sequins altogether this season, or you're trying to find a clever way to wear them — like with leather, or a giant, cozy sweater. Because, you put thought into looking cool, not contrived.
So, why shouldn't you apply your unique-unicorn MO to your makeup? Metallic eyes and red lips have always dominated the December beauty scene — you can expect every Ugly Sweater Party hostess to be wearing the same slick of cherry on her lips, with a pretty dusting of gold on her lids.
In order to help us not be That Girl, we asked makeup artist Edward Cruz to come up with some non-basic ways to wear metallics and glitter for the holidays. We're talking glitter for the mouth, a bold take on teal, and an element of neon that’s way more club kid than Christmas caroler. Click through to get inspired.
