Making The Cut: “Intactivists” Push To Stop Male Circumcision

Here's a controversial piece of news perfect for your Wednesday morning: A group of "Intactivists" in San Francisco have submitted over 12,000 signatures to the city's Election Board calling for the ban of circumcision for any male under 18-years-old. Supporters argue that circumcision is done without consent, and that the practice can impact sexuality and development throughout a man's life, while opponents point out that circumcision carries certain health benefits. If passed, the law would also ban religious circumcision, and if broken will result in a fine up to $1,000 and up to a year in jail. What's even more garish about this hot-button Bay issue is the fact that these so-called Inactivists are outfitting their children in onesies and T-shirts bearing anti-cirumcision maxims like, "Don't cut my junk!" Hmm, is it just us or does plastering a baby with slogans it can neither understand nor co-sign seem a tad on the hypocritical side? (Gawker)
