Why We’re Hooked On The Gnarly Whale

It's a well-known fact among our hardcore readers that the R29 beauty department is a sucker for a quirky name. Drunk Elephant, anyone? So, it will probably come as a surprise to absolutely no one that our newest obsession carries an offbeat moniker. Say hello to the Gnarly Whale.
While its cool label may have caught our eye, this eco-chic line has more than just a fun and funky name. Let us be the first to tell you that these are some quality hair and skin prettifiers. Made with natural ingredients, the assortment of vegan products includes hair detanglers, lip balms, shampoos, body sprays, soaps, wave sprays, toners, and skin scrubs.

Did we mention the scents? Because those are pretty rad, too. Coconut Milk & Peaches, Cucumber Melon, Cranberry Zinger — and yes, they all smell just as good as they sound. This lineup really is the whole package because each of the products does an excellent job at taming, hydrating, and generally zhushing your skin and hair. A few spritzes of the Coconut Milk & Peaches Hair Detangler and our locks were soft and silky, not to mention the fact that we haven't been able to stop swiping the Champagne Lip Balm over our parched winter pouts.
Even more appealing than all that? The prices: At $3.50 to $27 a pop, these quirkily named, delicious-smelling, highly effective primpers are actually pretty damn affordable. Not bad, Gnarly Whale, not bad at all.
The Gnarly Whale Thai Coconut Beach Waves, $12, available at The Gnarly Whale.
