Channeling: Daisy Buchanan’s ’20s Style

Between the very exciting pictures being leaked from the set of The Great Gatsby and the charm of it's leading lady Carey Mulligan, our expectations are set fairly high for the Baz Luhrmann blockbuster (which sadly, won't hit theaters until December). While we can't guarantee Oscar noms or critical acclaim from the on-screen reboot of F. Scott Fitzgerald's most famous novel, we have a no doubts that the costumes will win us over in a heartbeat. In fact, they already have.
Mulligan's role as female lead, Daisy Buchanan — an East Egg (read: old money) socialite with a cynical attitude and tumultuous love life — epitomizes the glamourous '20s style that gave new shape (literally) to women's style and continues to influence present-day runway looks (hello Gucci spring '12).
For now, though, instead of immersing ourselves in the hype of the Gatsby movie preview (although, trust, we're really excited for this one), we'd rather spend some time mulling over one of our favorite parts of the tale: the clothing and beauty. Get set for drop waists, chic (faux) fur stoles, T-straps, sleek and high ultra-accessorized hair, and as many pearls as you can handle.
