There are plenty of ways to add a little pep to your step. Our preferred method? Kicking back while giving back, of course. So naturally, we’re all about Blu Kicks — a new local shoe brand that serves up chromatic steppers along with a side of warm fuzzy feelings. Made from recycled canvas and natural rubber, these babies are hill-friendly and cute, to boot! Inspired by endangered Hawaiian fish, the Humuhumunukunukuapua’a (don’t ask us how to pronounce that), these chic sneaks come in a variety of bold colors and patterns. And more than just an eco-friendly shoemaker, this sole proprietor donates 3% of all sales to Wild Aid and For the Fishes.
“There’s something more in each shoe — a little bit of the islands’ breezy, laid-back personality. We hope it inspires people to slow down and relax, even if it’s only for a slow bike ride around the neighborhood, an hour in the water, or sipping a cold one on the front steps,” says founder Victoria Fay. So, go ahead, and grab your pair because with soles as sweet as these, doing good means looking good, too.
