The Frozen Sequel Might Be Even Better Than The Original

We've been in a deep freeze since March, when Disney announced that Frozen 2 is happening. The studio hasn't revealed an official release date for the film, so Elsa and Anna fans have been salivating over every morsel of information that anyone involved with the film might be willing to let go. Frozen's directors, Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, appeared at a screening of the Walt Disney Animation Studios Shorts Collection — which includes Frozen Fever — on August 9. MTV News took the opportunity to ask Buck and Lee for some updates on the sequel. While the filmmakers mostly remained tightlipped, Buck did drop what's probably the biggest hint about the actual storyline of Frozen 2 thus far. "We have two very strong female leads in Frozen,” Buck told MTV News. “We will keep that going in the next one. We will tackle other issues that, I think, are out there today that boys and girls, men and women, are dealing with. I think we’re very aware of what is happening in society. I don’t think any of us take [them] lightly, even though they can be very funny and entertaining, the messages that our movies have and the influence they can have on young people. When the kids [watch] them, they watch them over and over again, and if we don’t have a decent message in there, I think we’ve missed an opportunity.” So, we have a hunch that Frozen 2's plot will likely address socially constructed gender roles in a way that children of every age can understand and take to heart.
