Eddie Redmayne is attached to play Newton Scamander in the Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. While Harry may have been the hero of J.K. Rowling’s first series, he’d be nothing without the leading ladies in his life — especially Hermione. That’s why everyone is carefully scouring the just-released shortlist of actresses being considered for the two female leads in Fantastic Beasts. According to The Wrap, which obtained the list, there are seven actresses who could possibly take the role. Saoirse Ronan, Dakota Fanning, Lili Simmons, and Alison Sudol are being pursued for the part of Tina. Kate Upton, Katherine Waterston, and Elizabeth Debicki are in contention to play Tina’s older sister Queenie. The Wrap also noted that, “Redmayne is expected to read alongside them during those tests, which are slated to take place over the next week.” Still, nothing could be finalized for quite some time.

Vanity Fair
also speculated that Tina could be Scamander’s love interest, nothing that, “The famous ‘magizoologist’ married a woman named Porpentina.” Per The Wrap, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them takes place in New York, roughly seven decades before the beginning of the Harry Potter saga. It follows the life of Newton Scamander, an expert in magical creatures, who authored the Hogwarts textbook of the same name. J.K. Rowling wrote the film’s script herself, and it's the first movie in what Warner Bros. hopes will be a successful trilogy. The film will hit theaters on November 18, 2016. (The Wrap)
