Quvenzhané Wallis has the whole movie star thing down pat. The Louisiana native first burst onto the scene at age nine in 2012's out-of-nowhere hit, Beasts of the Southern Wild. Her stunning performance earned her an Oscar nod, making her the youngest nominee in Academy Awards history. While she may have not taken home the gold, Wallis still walked away a winner, thanks to the her effusive red carpet charm. Hollywood had found its newest ingénue.
Now she's back with her first starring role since her breakout — and what a role it is. Wallis will play the titular orphan in Annie, director Will Gluck's modern-day retelling of the iconic 1982 film. With the movie set for release on December 19, Wallis is once again hitting the promotional trail, and doing it with the verve and gusto of a Hollywood vet. First, there was this picture, which might go down as the cutest of the year. Now, in a brand-new interview with Elle, Wallis admitted that becoming an adult just isn't for her.
"I feel like I’m five sometimes, because I still enjoy myself," she told the magazine. "I enjoy what I do. I don’t want to grow up, but I know it’s not going to last much longer.”
