Neil Patrick Harris Just Landed His Dream Gig (Again)

It's been quite a month for Neil Patrick Harris. First, his performance in David Fincher's smash hit Gone Girl was one of the film's most memorable moments. Then, he was announced as next year's Oscars host. And, today Vulture has confirmed that the talented multi-hyphenate will host his very own variety show on NBC.
The show will be modeled after the wildly popular U.K. variety show Saturday Night Takeaway, which airs on ITV. "As I watched the show, I couldn’t stop smiling. Now that I’ve seen many seasons, my face hurts. It’s a game changer,” Harris said in a statement. “Nothing like this has been done before, and its unique structure fits right into my random skill set. I can’t wait to roll up my sleeves and have some fun!”
The show will feature "comedy sketches, musical numbers, mini game shows, hidden camera pranks on celebrities and appearances by A-list stars,” NBC confirmed. The move makes sense for the network, which struck gold when it enlisted Jimmy Fallon to host The Tonight Show. Fallon has since used his versatility and mass appeal to make the network's late night staple more relevant than it has been in decades.
Like The Tonight Show, Harris' show will also be based in New York. Though NBC has already ordered ten episodes, all we know regarding a premiere date is that it will begin airing sometime in 2015, according to Orly Adelson, the president of ITV Studios America. (Vulture)
