Amanda Bynes Denies Schizophrenia Rumors

Now that she's out of a rehab facility and enrolled in fashion school, Amanda Bynes is looking to set the record straight about her mental health.
"There has been much speculation about Amanda's medical condition," her attorney Tamar Arminak told People. "She has remained silent because she believed it was best to keep her mental health diagnosis private. However, she asked me to dispel certain rumors. For the record, Amanda does not have schizophrenia, nor has she ever been diagnosed with it."
Arminak did not elaborate on what might have caused the actress' erratic behavior last year, which resulted in her being forcibly hospitalized in July. She did, however, state that the former child star has "been marijuana-free for the past nine months." She also denied that Bynes has ever had issues with "abusing alcohol or hard drugs."
A separate source within the Bynes family told the magazine that Amanda is continuing her outpatient treatment and is not on any medication. "She's still working through the causes of her past bizarre behavior," the source adds.
New photos posted to Bynes' Twitter feed suggest that the 28-year-old is on the mend. She remains under the guardianship of her mother, but, according to Arminak, also enjoys some independence. "She's doing extremely well," the attorney said. "Her primary focus is bonding with her family and being a student." (People)
