We could not be more obsessed with Jones' futuristic-glamour look — that velvety rouge lipstick with slicked-back locks are a match made in beauty heaven. Hairstylist Giannandrea explains why he chose the stark, slightly boyish 'do: “Classic, wet, slicked back hair is very graphic. It allows the beauty of the face to shine through.” When it came to the star's makeup, artist Rachel Goodwin chose Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in La Fascinate as the winning red — and, for shots that put more of an emphasis on the eyes, the makeup artist chose an unexpected shadow shade. "One solid shade of deep purple around the eyes — with no mascara — is easy, graphic, and a little bit mod,” says Goodwin.
In the interview portion of the editorial, Jones addresses how she has managed to maintain a sense of secrecy despite her status as a red-carpet superstar. “I prefer to remain mysterious and have people make their own judgment calls about me than to always have to explain who I am and what I’m about," she says. That sense of stoic confidence has served the actress well in her personal life, and it has also managed to shape her presence onscreen. “I try to take risks and shock people a little bit. It’s important to provoke some sort of emotion, negative or positive,” she says.
