MAC’s New Lipglass Is Better Than Ever

Like many, I love MAC lipstick. What I've never been too keen on though is MAC lip gloss. Specifically, the Lipglass collection. The super-thick, sticky formula and that distinctive sweet smell take me right back to middle school when it was cool to pack on as much of the goop as possible while cracking gum between our braces. I've avoided it since that time.
So, when I was handed their new Mineralize Lipglass and told to try it out, I was less than excited. Surely, Lipglass is Lipglass regardless of branding, no?
Well, friends, I'm prepared to eat my words here. The new Mineralize Glass is awesome, and this is coming from a matte-lipstick devotee. The new formula is soft and silky with a shiny finish that's not at all overwhelming. It's a sophisticated and modern gloss. And, the colors are gorgeous. I tried Wake Up!, a true red, and loved it. And, as the day wore on, it faded into a cherry-colored stain. Not too shabby.

Newly impressed by MAC's lip-gloss technology, I went back and tried the original Lipglass, in the Viva Glam shade from Rihanna's collection. In hindsight, my middle-school self was definitely not applying lipglass correctly. Yeah, too much makes it goopy, but one coat is pure fabulousness. Lesson learned.
The Mineralize Glass collection comes in 12 different shades to play with. At this moment, I want all of them.
MAC Mineralize Glass in Vibrant Vibe, $22, available at MAC.
