Well, we survived what was quite possibly one of the biggest collaborations of the year. Lorde, Disclosure, and AlunaGeorge took the stage at the 2014 Brit Awards and brought their wunderkind tracks together for an infectious duet of epic dance proportions. Heck, this might be the trendiest duet of 2013 and 2014.
Though Lorde's reign is still the widest of the British bunch, Disclosure and AlunaGeorge equally rose to prominence last year as their disco-redux vibes slowly trumped the omph-omph-bump of traditional electronic dance music. Now, almost three months into the new year, we're beginning to see just how far their relatively minimalist aesthetics have spread.

Disclosure's production breathed new life into Lorde's radio-fatigued (but still awesome) "Royals." As Lorde's face faded in and out behind Disclosure's now easily-identifiable sketch, the duo's "White Noise" beat crept up and exploded into the full, four-to-the-floor beat. AlunaGeorge's Aluna Francis strut her stuff as Lorde tapped into her inner witch and disapparated from the stage. It's a damn solid performance that, dare we say, trumped Bey's "XO." But, hey, no shade thrown there; we all know who the real Queen B is here.
