Normally Pharrell Williams is the one starting the trends (see: Grammys hat). However this time, the super producer is the one hopping on board. Following in the footsteps of contemporaries like Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Beyoncé, Pharrell is releasing a brand new album with very little warning at all. It's called G I R L, and it's due on March 3.
Williams is coming off a banner year, which means his latest solo effort will be his most anticipated yet. Last month he took home four Grammy awards for his acclaimed work on Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories, and on March 2 he'll be performing his hit single "Happy" at the Academy Awards. The song, which is featured on the Despicable Me soundtrack, is also up for an Oscar. With his album out the next day, a win would probably make the first week of March the best week of Pharrell's life. And, for a global superstar who's like, hung out with Beyoncé and stuff, that's saying something.
Details about the album are scarce, but this is a Pharrell joint, so expect everybody you've ever liked in music to make an appearance on this, the first event album of 2014.
