But, it seems like the buzziest (and quickest changing) ‘hood is the turning-techie Mission. With Mark Zuckerberg and other notable tech figures packing their bags and moving in, the once-scrappy enclave is on its way to becoming SoMa 2.0.
So, it really doesn’t startle us to learn that Google has plans to rent an industrial “cool” space for its employees to hole up in, instead of trekking to Mountain View or any of the other S.F. hubs. According to VC Post, the new building is a 35,000-square-foot space (that used to be a former printworks) at 282 Alabama (at 16th Street), so nearby residents can expect a sum of 200+ Googlers wandering around, looking for that burrito fix. In addition to the Mission lot, Google also plans to buy a space in South Park. Oh boy!
