Two of the best film scores of the last five years have come courtesy of Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor and his collaborations with director David Fincher. So, it's with great joy that we can announce that Reznor and Fincher are once again joining forces for the auteur's eagerly awaited crime saga Gone Girl.
Reznor and his partner Atticus Ross' first cinematic effort resulted in the darkly hued electro that colored Mark Zuckerberg's rise in Fincher's The Social Network. It was Reznor's first time composing music specifically for a film, but it didn't show. He and Ross took home the Oscar for Best Original Score that year. So, it made perfect sense that they got together a second time, when Fincher brought Stieg Larsson's grim best seller The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo to the big screen. Though the film wasn't quite the phenomenon as their first collaboration, Reznor's score was once again an impressive study in mood and atmosphere.
Gone Girl, based on the Gillian Flynn novel by the same name, stars Ben Affleck as a man who might or might not be involved in the disappearance of his wife. It's similar in tone with Fincher's last movie, so expect Reznor to feel right at home. October 3, Gone Girl's release date, can't come soon enough. (Consequence of Sound)
