A French Writer Reveals Why Her Countrywomen Get Better With Age

frenchbeauty-opener-4 copyIllustrated by Ammiel Mendoza.
We've always had a soft spot for all things French, but we've had a suspicion that a few Frenchies may be silently judging us. Perhaps we've detected an eye roll or two underneath that artfully tousled flip of hair? It seems we're onto something, especially when it comes to their opinion of the American obsession with plastic surgery.

According to a new HuffPo article, Mireille Guiliano (the author behind such New York Times successes as French Women Don't Get Fat), French women would never consider going under the knife, unless all hope was lost. She's pretty passionate about the subject, so much so that it's the name of her new book,
French Women Don't Get Facelifts,
which drops just in time for you to make those resolutions.

Since the article does point out that French women do, in fact, resort to plastic surgery, but not as often, we're focusing on some of the more sage advice in the book, like taking the focus off aging and onto what makes you individually beautiful. Perhaps a little bit of that je ne sais quoi when it comes to embracing your own particular brand of hotness may be a good thing, non? (Huffington Post)
