How Jenna Lyons Works Her Winter Layers

Jenna Lyons, J. Crew Creative Director and glasses-wearing-girl-about-town, has a real knack for helping us see things in a different light. Sequins during the day? Why not! Blazer without a bra? We never knew it could look so refined. So, naturally, when her tips for winter layering turned up over in
The Telegraph
, we were there with bells on and notebooks out.

We suggest giving the full feature a good read before you dive head first into Cyber Monday sales (or any last-minute Black Friday deals). But, there are a few highlights we think are particularly worth noting here — all of which are indicative of Lyons' singular approach to styling.
She talks a bit about the usual suspects: mixed metals and finding the right shape for your body type. That's all well and good. But, perhaps her best bit of advice is the integration of a crisp, white collared shirt into any and every outfit. She recommends that you frame the upper body by showing your cuffs and collar. Of course, it all rides on finding the perfect shirt for your taste, wardrobe, and shape. Not an easy feat.
Lyons gets hers from a brand called E. Tautz, which is only available in Britain. Stateside, we'd recommend Everlane for a softer fit, though honestly, we're quite fond of borrowing stiffer oxfords from the J. Crew men's section. What about you — have you found the perfect white button-down yet? (Telegraph)
