Our dream European excursions are filled with fantasies of romantic getaways and luxurious dinners set in secret spots only the most local of locals know of. Unfortunately, we all too often get stuck chowing down at the nearest pizzeria as we check our watches for the next tour. Not très chic.
Luckily, Marni’s winter ’13 video leads us on an adventure to Milan’s best kept secrets: elaborate staircases, backyard gardens, and modern passageways take us through roads of the city less traveled. The video pans across wide shots of these spaces, segmented by glimpses of Marni’s winter collection. If you look closely, the clothes’ colors and textures complement the scenery, the bodies almost blending into their backgrounds. Striped window panels paired with a striped top, statement glass paired with stained earrings — the video juxtaposes the construction of fashion against more obvious architecture.
Even if our wallets are too light to afford a trip to this part of Europe (darn you, fall collections!), we’ll take this mini-vacation any day. Watch ahead for your two-and-a-half-minute escape.
