It’s pretty easy to tell if you have an inverted-triangular face shape. Just ask one question: Is your forehead wider than your jaw? If the answer's yes, keep reading for easy tips from pros on how to balance it all out. It doesn’t take much!
“The beauty of this facial shape is that the bone structure is usually so defined that makeup is used as an accent, rather than an illusion,” explains NYC-based makeup artist Nico Guilis.
The overall goal when doing your makeup is to narrow your forehead and make your cheekbones and jawline appear wider. Think soft by blending and shading a contouring powder (bronzer works, too) down your jawline instead of focusing your attention on your cheekbones. Contouring around the mouth, instead of the cheeks, helps prevent the enhancement of sharp angles. Then, shade around your temples, but avoid matte bronzers, as they’ll create too much depth. Instead, try using a bronzer with a bit of shimmer, such as Sonia Kashuk’s Bare Minimum Pressed Powder Bronzer.

Highlight the apples of your cheeks, center of your forehead, and chin. “It's more about rounding it all out than accentuating the bone structure,” says Guilis. Of course, once you’re done dusting a bit of bronzer here and there, it’s important to pay attention to the rest of your makeup, as it can make or break your work.
“Someone with an inverted-triangular face should play up their eye shape to pull the emphasis upward,” says NYC-based makeup artist Sonia Kashuk. Two must-haves: heavy, bushy brows and lots of mascara.
