Steal This Look: The 411 On Rebecca Minkoff’s Resort Beauty

We absolutely cannot take our eyes off of the hair and makeup seen in Rebecca Minkoff's Resort 2014 lookbook. Does the combination of beachy-casual and glam get any better than this? Lucky for us, Rebecca Minkoff and her stylists gave us the scoop on the inspiration behind the look and tips for how we can recreate it — which you can bet we're going to do, immediately.
“For my resort collection I drew influence from the free spirit of a girl on the road with a band as they travel along the Pacific Coast Highway," Minkoff says. "You can see that carefree glam in the hair: tousled, untroubled waves.”

We wanted to create a look that was laid-back, yet glamorous," says stylist Jeanie Syfu. "So, I enhanced the model’s natural texture and gave her beachy waves with a fun texture that makes it look like it’s been influenced by the elements.”
Syfu used TRESemmé 24 Hour Body Foaming Mousse on the roots. She then took a "mohawk section of hair," (about 4-5 inches of hair from the hairline to the center of the crown), blow-dried it, and pinned it into three large round curlers away from the face. After letting the bottom air dry, she backcombed the root, curling pieces with a curling iron.
Syfu then let each of the three blown-out sections down, starting with the front, backcombing them for extra volume. When she took the final front section down, she let it fall naturally and then created an even-center part.
We're also digging the makeup, and were eager to find out what makeup artist Sarah Lucero used. “The eyes were all about the double liner," she says. "Try a pastel on the top lid and define with a soft slate gray. The two together enhance and define while keeping a soft look overall.” That bright pink lipstick is Stila After Glow Lip Color in Electric Pink (which you may recall from our Beauty Test Lab — it glows in UV light). As for the summertime glow on the model's face, that's coming from Stila Custom Color Blush in Pink.
