We knew that our fair monarch would be adding a new dimension to her Christmas Day message yesterday, but we hadn't been prepared for the photos of her wearing the accompanying blinged-out personalised specs.
Obviously, they were customised by her couturier, Angela Kelly, and obviously they have been embellished with a Swarovski studded 'Q' on the sides of the frames. Because that's how she rolls.
The beady-eyed among you will know that the tech-geek monarch wore a similar pair during a visit to a movie training centre in Toronto, Canada, in 2010. For Christmas 2012, though, QE2 upped the ante by pairing them with a sparkly beaded frock and plenty of pearls. Well played, your majesty.
We get the feeling that the 86-year-old has a real taste for this high-tech lark and can imagine her exercising her monarchical powers by subjecting her family to a Christmas Day 3D-film marathon. Monsters vs. Aliens, anyone?
