Caitlyn Jenner May Be Getting Sued For $18.5 Million

Caitlyn Jenner may be getting sued for $18.5 million by five people involved in the fatal February 2015 car crash she was in on the Pacific Coast Highway, TMZ reports. While Jenner's time in the spotlight this year has largely centered on her boldly publicized transition and the docu-series chronicling it, behind the scenes, a parallel narrative of legal drama has also been unfolding around the unfortunate events of February 7. Though it has been confirmed Jenner will not face felony charges for the deadly accident, just last week the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department revealed that she could be charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter for violating speed laws during the crash. And now, the reality star and trans advocate might have to add a new civil suit to her roster of legal troubles. During the accident in question, Jenner, who was driving a black Cadillac Escalade, rear-ended a Lexus sedan, which slammed into a Toyota Prius before crossing into oncoming traffic and colliding with a black Hummer. Kim Howe, the 69-year old driver of the Lexus, was tragically killed. The five occupants of the black Hummer are now suing Howe's estate for $18.5 million, and according to TMZ, they plan on filing an identical suit against the former Olympian. Just days after the crash, Jenner issued a statement calling the event "a devastating tragedy," offering her "heartfelt and deepest sympathies" to the victims families and promising to "cooperate in every way possible" with the accident investigation. Both Howe's stepchildren and the driver of the Prius have also filed lawsuits against Jenner.
