The Best Places To Grab A Cup Of Joe

London's love affair with coffee goes way back. In the 17th century, the city was awash with coffeehouses filled with citizens debating the topics of the day. Today, the capital is not so different, although there are fewer cases of scurvy, and women are now allowed on the premises — rejoice!
To honor this cherished tradition, we rounded up the caffeine joints worth using a travel card to reach. Whatever your poison, there's a java store serving up the perfect cup. So, put down that mug of instant and make a beeline to the cafés, delis, and espresso bars giving Londoners the shakes for all the right reasons. Click ahead to see what's brewing.

Taylor St Baristas Mayfair
The next time you hit Oxford Circus for a shopping trip, get your coffee fix at nearby Taylor St Baristas' Mayfair branch. This bijou café offers a fantastic array of coffee blends from around the world. Sip an espresso and soak in the sun on the reclaimed church pews outside — heavenly.

Lantana
Fitzrovia is a fantastic place to explore on the weekend. It houses some of the city's best charity shops, and Lantana is the café everyone visits to replenish their energy levels with coffee and freshly cooked eggs. Don't be put off by the queues (Lantana doesn't accept bookings); a table outside is well worth the wait.

Rosie's Deli Café
For more than 10 years, Rosie's Deli Café has been charming the inhabitants of Brixton with its eclectic blend of homemade cakes, pies, salads, and sandwiches. Its breakfast options are pretty wonderful, too, as are the flat whites, which are as smooth as they are potent.

The Waiting Room
We like to head to Deptford on a Saturday to see what its diverse open-air market has to offer. A pit stop at veggie café, The Waiting Room, is essential for mustering enough energy to sift through the ephemera on sale. Its flat white is one of our favourites in the city.

The Waiting Room, 142 Deptford High Street, London, SE8 3PQ.
