Tom Hiddleston’s Jaguar Ad Banned, TV Suddenly Less Sexy

Tom Hiddleston knows how to play the villain. But, that's just his on-screen persona. In real life, he's the man who may eclipse Ryan Gosling as the object of everyone's affection. Too bad the U.K. is banning his hot new ad for Jaguar. Following a consumer complaint to Britain's Advertising Standards Authority, the organization removed the offensive commercial, arguing that it encourages irresponsible driving.
Hiddleston spot for the luxury car company is part of the brand's "Art of Villainy" campaign, promoting the Jaguar F-type coupe. The car is almost as sexy as Hiddleston, so it's a natural pairing. But, the ASA says the clip can no longer run in its current form, as it "appeared to suggest significant speed within an enclosed environment."

Jaguar counters that it had policemen present during the shoot to make sure the driver didn't exceed the speed limit. Still, the ASA "considered significant speed was suggested when the car accelerated on the public road after the character said, 'Now brace yourselves' and again when the car exited a tunnel and sped away from other cars on the road."
The smart thing for Jaguar to do here is not change a thing. Cast one of the sexiest men alive in a controversial ad, and you've got yourselves a winner. (Hollywood Reporter)
