Cult-Classic Lipstick Gets Some New Friends

If you've never tried Kevyn Aucoin's Bloodroses lipstick, you need to stop reading this article and go get yourself some. Yes, it's on the pricier side, but trust us that it's money well-spent. Bloodroses manages to be both dark and radiant. It's earned its place in our lives as one of those lipsticks that we're on a color-name basis with (like NARS Heatwave and Clinique's Black Honey). And, this month, the brand is releasing some new friends for this cult-classic lippy, and we couldn't be more excited.
The two new products, a lip gloss and a pencil, are the same shade of merlot as their predecessor. Meaning: Now we can take our Bloodroses game to a whole new level. Sure, we could use each of these on their own. Applying just the pencil will create a lovely matte look, and just the gloss will be a pop of high-shine glory. But, applied all together? Think perfectly lined lips with out-of-control intensity and sheen. Try applying the gloss over the lipstick just in the center of your bottom lip for a fuller pout.

The season for dark lips may very well be over soon, if you care about things like that. We, however, plan on rocking Bloodroses and its new lip pals all year round — because putting them in a drawer for the next six months would be a crime.
