Freemans Sporting Club Not Shutting In S.F., But Expanding!

There were some major shake-ups on the Valencia Street retail front this week. After Racked S.F. reported that Freemans Sporting Club and F.S.C. Barber were immediately parting ways, we were left with a flurry of questions. Would F.S.C Barber continue in S.F.? When would F.S.C shut down? Why is all this happening? Groomed S.F. dudes everywhere poured out a little liquor for what seemed like the end of the road for the cult-followed, Mission staple.
But, alas, we can dry the tears — we've learned that while Freemans Sporting Club is indeed shutting down its Valencia Street outpost immediately, it does plan to continue to run the shop in S.F. in a bigger, better location. “Shortly, we’ll be re-opening in San Francisco in a larger location to make room for a clothing store, bar and barbershop,” Freemans Sporting Club told us in an official statement. Apparently, the new Freemans Sporting Club S.F. locale will be an umbrella of offerings encompassing a restaurant, bar, apparel, and grooming — making for a one-stop sporting-life stop. As for the babershop, it intends to do its thing in the same space, expanding into the room that was formerly Freemans Sporting Club and operating under a new name, dubbed Fellow Barber. Ch-ch-changes!
