Claire Danes’ Sultry Espionage Vogue Cover Shoot Is Awesome

1

Only Claire Danes could go from the red carpet to feeding her newborn to winning a Golden Globe to feeding her newborn again to meeting Bill Clinton all in one night, and not break a sweat. All that time spent embodying Homeland's frenzied Carrie Mathison must have influenced her newfound balance between motherhood and big-time Hollywood actress — it's certainly skyrocketed her out of the indie-darling status that's followed her since My So-Called Life. And now, Danes is a reprising her role as

cover girl.

In an insanely beautiful national-security-meets-high-fashion shoot, Annie Leibovitz managed to blur the line between Danes and her Homeland character: Are we looking at Claire Danes or Claire as Carrie? Having Homeland's Damian Lewis star alongside the actress merely heightens the shoot's drama. It seems sinful that the famous interrogation scene should look this good, but it does, and we're obsessed. Oh, and the interview is just as good. If you can manage to tear your eyes away from the glossy images, you'll find out why.

“I find her so present and so raw and so available in the moment. She is so alive that I want to be alive like her. I look at her. I listen to her. As much takes place in the silence as it does when we are speaking.” — Mandy Patinkin
