Fake A Summer Glow Even If You Never Leave The Office

Summer should be all about long, glorious days spent basking in the sun, rereading our favorite books in the park, and dining alfresco. But, in reality, most of the sun we see is through our office windows — yeah, you know what we mean. Luckily, the spring runways and streets of NYC are jam-packed with healthy, sun-kissed inspiration that we're itching to cop, so we can at least pretend we're lounging in the sun. According to makeup artist Allie Smith, the key to a glowing complexion like that of this gal we spotted in NYC is all in the skin prep. Make sure you cleanse, tone, and moisturize thoroughly before you even think about applying a stitch of makeup. After your skin is set, dab a long-wear foundation, like COVERGIRL Outlast Stay Luminous Foundation, only where you need it — like around the cheeks, forehead, and chin — so you're not smothering your face with product. Moving on to the eyes, Smith suggests skipping the eyeliner and instead applying just two coats of mascara for subtle definition. Then, dust a light-pink blush onto the apples of your cheeks using a slanted brush, and blend toward the temples for a soft flush. To find the apples, just smile — yep, it's that easy. Do the same thing with highlighter, and pat a tiny bit into the inner corners of your eyes and under your browbone for instant perkiness. Finally, swipe on a light-pink lipstick or good ol' balm to keep the look all about the face. Now, about those summer office hours...
