sidekicks
, the Bay Area has officially gone to the dogs. But here’s an awww-inducing
pooch event you don’t see everyday: Dachshunds racing around a track, competing
for a cash prize. And it all goes down this Saturday at Golden Gate Fields in Berkeley.
The race, aptly named the Wiener Nationals, features 108 Dachshunds (entered by
their owners) competing in 10 races throughout the day. The sprints take place

rest assured it’s safe for their little legs!—from the start to finish line. Dying to find
out who the wiener is? Then don’t miss this crazy canine function! We know we won't.

Price: $6 for adults; Kids free
When: Saturday, August 20, 11:45 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Golden Gate Fields, 1100 Eastshore Highway, Berkeley; 510-
