11 Reasons To Head To Water Street, Stat!

Good news — you now have an excellent source of motivation to get off your couch (or start summer Fridays early) for the next week and a half. Yesterday, No Kings Collective kicked off an 11-day flash art exhibition, dubbed The Water St. Project, essentially taking over the Georgetown Waterfront with a plethora of awesome pop-up shows and events that merge art, music, fashion, and technology. The project is open daily from 1 to 7 p.m. and features the works of various national and local artists, including Maggie O’Neil, Kelly Towles, and Brandon Hill. But here’s what really sold us: There's a new and cool event scheduled every day, from afternoon art workshops to nighttime cocktail parties.

We must admit that, after taking a look at the schedule, the idea of picking just one event to attend felt like torture (much like music festival-goers who have to choose between two beloved bands have to endure), but we managed to narrow it down to three: Tomorrow, in honor of Earth Day, there's an afternoon artist workshop where you can learn about “creative reuse" and purchase local art. On Thursday, clear your schedule for whiskey tasting, dancing, and a little bit of styling, and next Sunday, the NYC-based bloggers behind Street Etiquette are coming to town and bringing their band along, so get ready for a concert filled with soul, hip hop, spoken word —and great style, of course.
