Viva Italia: Michael Roberts' Sicilian Photo Exhibit

Vanity Fair is known for its iconic, sometimes scandalous, sometimes questionable photos. Miley Cyrus and a fur blanket? Not quite what we'd like to see with our morning croissant. It's no surprise then that the rag's Fashion and Style Director Michael Roberts has created a book of photography from Italy that takes Sicilian natives and turns them into fashion spread fodder. We mean no disrespect by that statement—these photos truly transform the everyday into the beautiful.

The mesmerizing images from "Shot in Sicily" will be exhibited at the 401 Projects gallery, an establishment that works with photographers and the charity of their choice, Roberts' being Vision Cultural, a foundation improving the standards of living in Columbia. The photographer, who has spent twenty years studying this area of Italy and its people, depicts the stunning youth of the city as well its the rich cultural history in all of its black and white glory. Does this beat Nigel Barker's seal photo exhibit? It's a tough call, but we think it just may.
"Shot in Sicily" will be open to the public from September 10 - October 18, Wednesday to Sunday 10am-6pm. For more information about the exhibit, visit www.401projects.com.
