We’re still drying our eyes after hearing the bittersweet news of SFMOMA’s three-year closure. But, rest assured the light at the end of the tunnel will leave us with a new, tricked-out establishment, so we’re practicing patience and taking the break in stride. But, no (temporary) goodbye would be complete without the proper send-off. Such is the case with SFMOMA’s departure shindig — not only is the museum holding a packed four-day fiesta, but it has asked little ol’ R29 to partake in the hosting duties. How could we resist?
From Thursday, May 30 to Sunday, June 2, join SFMOMA in a variety of not-to-miss celebrations. From an awesome kickoff party to daily screenings of the video exploration of time, The Clock, don’t miss a beat by scoping out all that’s going down, right here.
Okay, here’s where we really come in! Join R29 and SFMOMA this Thursday, May 30 for a night at the museum and party the night away on the rooftop pavilion. Except customized R29 screen-printings, sangria by Coqueta, beer by Anchor Steam Brewery, bites by Bluestem Brasserie and Trace, and wait for it…..a performance by Semi Precious Weapons. Intrigued yet? Well, in case all that just isn’t enough — we're throwing in a game room, DJ sets, and photobooths in the Schwab Room and Haas Atrium. Put on those party pants and let’s bid the SFMOMA a temporary adieu. See you there!
When:Thursday, May 30, 6 to 9:45 p.m.
Where: SFMOMA, 151 3rd street (between Minna Street and Masset Place); 415-357-4000.
