Woop! Muji Is Making Moves Out West — Into A Massive S.F. Space

main
After years of pining, it’s finally time to break out the sake, because San Francisco’s getting yet another top-notch retail addition. It looks like Muji will soon be heading to our hilly hood! Since its start in 1980, the Japanese brand has cultivated quite the congregation of customers both internationally and through its five New York City stores. Known for its elegant, yet economical housewares and apparel, Muji is making our dream digs a reality by expanding beyond the Big Apple and setting up shop in SoMa — in the old 9th Street Designer Clearance space, to be exact.
The new S.F. locale will be the store’s first U.S. venture outside of NYC, plus it'll be the brand's biggest shop in the States. In taking over 7,250-square-feet of retail space and offering shoppers a spectacular selection of around 2,000 items, it’s also sure to be the ultimate example of East meets West awesomeness. We’re pretty lucky shoppers as of late. First confirmation of an S.F. Uniqlo and now a Muji — we’re on a retail roll, eh? Sadly, with the shop not opening until November, for the next few months we'll be attempting to master the art of patience.
