This Up-&-Coming Artist Is Jay Z Approved

Picture this: You’re waiting to interview for your dream job, and then the girl who interviewed right before you lands the gig on the spot. That’s basically what happened to native New Yorker, Kiah Victoria. She was this close to showing off her vocal skills on NBC’s The Voice, when the last slot on Christina Aguilera's team was scooped up just moments before she hit the stage. But, while some might find a blow like that discouraging, this driven, soulful singer saw it as a sign — motivation to keep going and make it on her own terms.
That's exactly what Victoria ended up doing. At just 21 years old, her résumé is already stocked full with some seriously impressive credits — Broadway's The Lion King and an appearance in Jay Z’s short film Picasso Baby are just two from that long list. Yep, you’ll probably want to find out more about this talent before her career explodes, so we did the honors by interviewing her for our latest My NY video, in collaboration with Maybelline. Check it out above, and then head on over to CITY for more must-see fashion, beauty, and lifestyle content.
