4 Tips For Getting Gorgeous Eyebrows

5_Crucial_Ways_To_Fake_Or_Make_Your_Brows_slide1_annaIllustrated by Anna Sudit.
Statement brows have been making a bold appearance on the runway and red carpet, complementing every look and complexion. From the gilded and bedazzled brows at Dior spring '14 to Cara Delevingne's enviously unruly arch, standout brows continue to dominate. Meticulously sculpted or wild and full, brows have a way of silently conveying emotion, whether commanding attention while arched in surprise or furrowed in concentration. Seem like reason enough to get in on the brow game? Ahead, four tips for making over your own arches.

Keep Them Well Brushed
This is the easiest and most overlooked way to groom your brows. Brushing them in an upward motion will reveal their ideal shape and instantly lift the face. Set brows in place using a brow gel or wax, clear mascara, or even a little bit of hairspray on a spoolie. If you don't have a spoolie, you can wash an old mascara wand with dish soap and turn it into a perfect eyebrow brush.

Fill Them In
There are several different ways to add depth and opacity to your eyebrows. Depending on the day, I go back and forth between brow pencils, or powder color and an angled brush. First, brush the brows upward to see where there are holes. When opting for a pencil, I like to choose one that has a very fine tip and apply using small strokes to mimic actual hairs. An angled brush and powder will give a slightly heavier look, which you can combat by working the product into your brows with a spoolie. One thing that's worth noting: You can absolutely never brush your brows too much.

While you are filling in your eyebrows, you can continue to brush them. Choose a color that is one shade lighter than your eyebrow shade to achieve a natural look. If you find that you applied too much powder, try gently pressing on the brow with your clean fingertip to soften the look.

Go Bold & Dye
Whether bleaching your brows to achieve a cool ‘90s look or adding a darker color to beef them up, dyeing your eyebrows can really change your face. Brunettes and redheads should stick to a color slightly lighter than the hair on their head. Blondes can amp up the drama by either opting for a deeper color or bleaching them to achieve a more harmonious look with golden strands. It's probably better to visit a beauty professional for this service instead of doing it on your own. A less permanent option would be a tinted brow gel, such as Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel, that will add color and texture to the brow without the commitment.

Stop Over-Grooming
Tweezing, trimming, threading, waxing, electrolysis...there are so many ways you can over-tame your eyebrows. With the trends constantly changing, it’s best to opt for grooming techniques that aren’t permanent. Natural brows are back in a big way, and the bolder the better. My rule of thumb? As long as there are two of them, you can’t go wrong. Using a pair of tweezers, gently pluck any strays that are going rogue and you are good to go.
