Thinking ahead to fall? Neither are we. Or rather, we weren't until we saw the men's tailoring-meet-classic-pretty fall collection from our current designer crush Heidi Merrick. Her perfect placement of shoulder-pads, contrast motif-print slacks, and boyfriend-style plaid button-ups have us conjuring visions of leaves turning orange and sips of apple cider. While this designer hails from the West Coast, this collection is decidedly East Coast-friendly. The line is ripe with stylish punchlines, like the floor-length tiered ruffle skirt in stone-gray tie-dye and rich gold-yellow cropped pants (an item we've officially added to our fall seek-and-employ list). Merrick's inspirations were "old houses full of books," and each piece is named after family members of The Royal Tenenbaums family (a crowd pleasing tactic for real). You may be hanging out in cut-off shorts and filmy tank-tops, but this gorgeous collection will get the autumn style wheels rolling a few months early. Don't resist.
