Because every occasion is made considerably more awesome with the addition of a little chocolate, we're extra-hyped about this weekend's Ghirardelli Square Chocolate Festival. The 16th annual "Sweet 16" event is going down this Saturday and Sunday, when the quaint, usually tourist-packed square will be oozing in chocolate-inspired festivities—from the creamy goodness of an ice-cream sundae-eating contest to lessons on whipping up ooey-gooey confections at “Chocolate School.” Standard tickets come “choc”-full (sorry! can't help!) of Ghirardelli's signature sweets, while VIP-ticket holders get to sip down glasses of wine while skipping the long lines and get prime seats for the live music radiating through the square. Added bonus: The totally adorbs tearoom Crown & Crumpet, located in the square, will be celebrating with its own special chocolate tea menu. Um, yum. The event benefits Project Open Hand, an organization assisting those living with HIV/Aids, making this festival all the more sweet.
When: Saturday, September 10, and Sunday, September 11, noon to 5 p.m.
Where: 900 North Point Street (between Beach and Larkin streets)
Price: Standard $20, VIP $50; Buy them here!
