With startling statistics like the discovery of a chemical in Subway's bread, eating healthfully is becoming increasingly difficult in today's super-sized, sodium-laden, and artificial world. But, if you prefer to bury your head in the sand (or a pile of mashed potatoes) instead of facing the facts, this article from Shape might change your mind. Our friends at the fitness mag posted a slideshow of 21 "reality checks" taken from David Zinczenko's book Eat It to Beat It! While giving up restaurant dining all together is probably not a realistic option, the fact that there are a whopping 1,130 calories and 58 grams of fat in the average dish may at least inspire you to scour the menu for healthier alternatives.
