Marc Jacobs' former flame and man-about-town Lorenzo Martone is powering full steam ahead with Nycked, his sizzling swimwear line. With his summer '11 range, Martone focuses on a tried and true palette of blacks and creams with camo-print thrown into the mix to add a little surprise to summer. Nycked aims to carve its own niche in the swimwear market with elaborately detailed fashion-forward bikinis, featuring lace panels, chiffon ties and oversized tassels. "We accept our roles as swimwear novices. We embrace that actually," says Martone. "We have no fear of feedback, change, and the learning curve." Apparently, amateur or not, wannabe Brazilian bombshells are responding. Now backed by conglomerate group Salon 9, Nycked has just inked distribution deals with behemoth retailers Saks Fifth Avenue, and Shop Bop, we can be sure that we'll all be seeing a lot more of Nycked on the sand this summer—hopefully with Martone in a speedo in tow.
