Catch Two Classic Movies For Free This Saturday

Are you soaking in some quality time outdoors before summer slips away completely? Us, too. And to help keep you outside, there are two outdoor movie screenings hitting town just in time for the weekend. Come Saturday, you can head over to Washington Square Park for a free screening of Stanley Kubrick's classic satire Dr. Strangelove. It all comes courtesy of the folks over at the Film Night in the Park series who will be heading to North Beach to play this 1964 thriller, in which Russian spies flouridate America's drinking water while politicians and generals frantically try to stop it. Ah! The horror! Option two: Head over to the Inner Sunset where the 2000 comedy/documentary Best in Show will also be playing on the big screen thanks to the Inner Sunset Anywhere Cinema crew. Can't make it at all? Don't worry, there are still plenty of outdoor screenings making their way around the city before the sun fizzles out (Top Gun at Dolores Park being one of them). So bring a friend or two, a super-cozy blanket, and your favorite snacks, and we'll see you there!
When: Saturday, September 10, 8 p.m.; Inner Sunset screening includes a potluck at 6 p.m.
Where: Dr. Strangelove at Washington Square Park (at Union Street and Columbus Avenue); Best in Show at Everybody Bikes, 1352 Irving Street (corner of 15th Avenue)
