It’s Beaujolais Day! Pop A Cork And Raise A Glass At These Area Shindigs

Montmartre2slide
Bless the French — not only did they give us the Statue of Liberty, denim (actually, "de Nimes"), and Coco Chanel, but they've created a fabulous reason for red-wine lovers to go out tonight. French vintners with a flair for marketing introduced us to Beaujolais Nouveau Day to celebrate the first day this particular red wine can be legally uncorked — as if you needed another reason to enjoy a glass. Last night, oenophiles flocked to Beaujolais soirées, including Bistrot du Coin’s famous late-night fete in Dupont to welcome the 12:01 a.m. kickoff, but there’s still time left for you to indulge your inner Francophile.
Tonight, you can enjoy free tastings and live jazz at Bistro Lepic, or head to the French Embassy for a reception boasting all the Beaujolais you can possibly drink. If you want to celebrate, but also need to make your Friday morning meeting, check out Montmartre in Eastern Market for a glass of wine and some of the best escargot this side of the Atlantic. Bon appétit!
