5 Can’t-Miss Rock Shows This Week, Plus A Freebie!

DATAROCK at Bottom Lounge, March 8, $15. Witness the (adorable) pride of Norway tomorrow night at Bottom Lounge. DATAROCK is what happens when dance, new wave, pop, rock, punk, and funk have a lovechild. In other words, baby, we got fun!
Bottom Lounge, 1375 West Lake Street (at North Ogden Ave); 312-666-6775.

Tahiti 80 at Abbey Pub, March 9, $15
. Tahiti 80 is more than just a band with a name that's fun to say. They're also really, really good at making rock music that reeks of pop and is therefore unbelievably fun to listen (or dance) to. It's a little sexy, so like, bring a date.
Abbey Pub, 3420 West Grace Street (at North Bernard Street); 773-478-4408.

Jessica 6 at Double Door, March 10, $10
. Imagine what happens when soul and electronic come together in one sweet, holy place. That's what you're about to see at Double Door this Thursday. It sounds even better when it's free! Tweet this story via@refinery29 for a shot at two spots on the guest list, courtesy of Refinery29.
Double Door, 1572 North Milwaukee Avenue (at Milwaukee, North, and Damen avenues); 773-489-3160.

Black Light Saints, Art Institute After Dark, March 11, $25
. Before you grimace at the price-tag, After Dark is actually quite awesome. Aside from hosting this new local band (who this editor hears will be on their way to SXSW), the event lets you experience AIC after-hours. Sort of like the grown-up version of A Night At The Museum.
The Art Institute of Chicago, 111 South Michigan Avenue; 312-443-3600.

Obits and Jaill at Empty Bottle, March 12, $10 in advance
. Please pay special attention to the fact that these tickets are available in advance. This generally means that this editor has a sneaky feeling that the show will sell out, and therefore you should buy your tickets early. Or you can get shut out of two shows in a row because you totally forgot and it was a disaster...so sad.
Empty Bottle, (at West Cortez Street) 1035 N Western Avenue; 773-276-3600.
