Miley Sings Her Heart Out For Equal Rights In “Hands Of Love”

We've become so accustomed to the outrageous, controversial troublemaker version of Miley Cyrus, that it's easy to forget she can actually belt out a tune and make good music. While it's a far cry from the tunes on her trippy, new album Dead Petz, Cyrus' track on the Freeheld soundtrack, called "Hands of Love" is as rousing and important as it is beautiful.

Freeheld chronicles the powerful, true story of Laurel Hester — played by Julianne Moore — who fought to have her pension benefits be transferred to her domestic partner, Stacie Andree — played by Ellen Page — when she was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. The Cyrus track is not only a battle cry, but a fitting tribute to their story, and the story of so many other same-sex couples who faced similar fights.

The song's chorus may just give you goosebumps when Cyrus sings, "In the hands of love/We carry on stronger than we started/The ash and dust that trail behind us/We can ease the blindness/Who we are comes to light."

The track is not only a touching ballad, but it's already won over the stars of the film, Moore and Page, who took to their respective Twitters to praise Cyrus (and the song's writer, hit-maker Linda Perry).
