John Stamos’ Interview Gets Awkward When Jimmy Kimmel Starts Name-Calling The Olsens

It seems like John Stamos has learned his lesson about bashing a certain set of famous twins in the media. During his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday, Stamos sat back and let Kimmel dig his own grave with some harsh Olsen disses and name-calling. If you recall, Mary-Kate Olsen said in an interview back in April that she and her sister hadn't even known about the Full House reboot that's currently in the works for Netflix. Stamos called out the sisters on Twitter, writing "I call bullshit," though he later took down the post. Naturally, the reboot came up during Stamos' chat with Kimmel. "We're doing 13 episodes for Netflix, which is really beautiful, you guys will love it," he said. When Kimmel asked about the Olsens, he responded, "No Olsen twins yet, but the invitation is there. I understand they're doing other things, but we'd love to have them." Kimmel then joked that he could just play Mary-Kate and Ashley. "I asked you if I could play the Olsen twins, and you laughed and you said 'Yeah that would be great,' and I never heard from anybody," he said. "It's a shame, it really is. I would be great as them, I really would. By the way, they're not such good actors, I could have been pretty good as the Olsen twins." When that elicited some ooohs from the audience, Kimmel said, "What, you thought those little muppets were good? I mean cute, yeah." Stamos' jaw dropped as if to say "ouch," and then Kimmel immediately changed the subject, but the awkwardness was palpable. Considering Stamos is producing Fuller House, which would no doubt see a huge ratings boost with the sisters' participation, it was probably wise not to indulge in any Olsen name-calling. We have a feeling Stamos is glad he dodged the bullet on this one.
