Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder seem to have the kind of relationship that dreams are made of. (Romantic daydreams, anyway.)
After six months of dating, the Twilight and The Vampire Diaries stars were engaged this January and married in an outdoor wedding in April, where they made the most romantic wedding video we may have ever seen. Since then, the newlyweds have made no secret of their happily married status, sharing adorable honeymoon photos and praising each other profusely in the media.
But despite all the ridiculously charming displays of affection that followed the famous couples wedding day, only a few snapshots from the event have seen the light of day — and the light of the ole interweb — until now. In the October/November 2015 issue of Brides magazine, the young actors share beautiful, never-before-seen photographs from their big day.
To keep the ceremony a secret, the couple told guests they were being invited to a housewarming party. But when guests arrived at a predetermined shuttle to the party, they were transported to a secret location in Topanga Canyon for the surprise ceremony. Reed, who wore a dramatic lace Claire Pettibone gown, told the magazine, "We didn't want our loved ones to show up with any expectations or squeezed into formal attire."
Instead of throwing a buttoned-up affair, the couple opted for a backyard reception inspired by Coachella, their favorite music festival, and the soulful city of New Orleans, Somerhalder's hometown — think half beachside dance party, half Cajun cookout. Because as Reed told Brides, "It really was all about the food, the dancing, and the love." (We'll take a double helping of the love with a side of wedding cake, please.)
