10 Times The Runway Looked Just Like A ’70s Flick

Maybe we've still got films on the brain from Sunday’s Oscars, but we picked up on some not-so-subtle cinematic references in the ready-to-wear looks debuted during the London fall shows. And — spoiler — they are all pretty much stuck in the 1970s.
It makes sense, really. Not only did the spring collections begin to hint at a revival, but with all of that leather, the fuzzy accents, and the swingy silhouettes, '70s style is a natural muse that lends itself to fall dressing. Whether it’s the sex (and time-management) appeal of tousled hair, those silky underpinnings, the freeness of the nipple, or the chic-yet-functional trenches that make for easy styling (and, ya know, glamorous brooding), we welcome these inspired runway moments.
Plus, when looking at a decade that's associated with Edie Sedgwick, Cherie Currie, and Ali MacGraw, it's hard not to want to emulate their looks. Click through to see more looks from London Fashion Week that honor our favorite on-screen style moments.
