Harry Potter
fans, get ready to freak out. Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in the films, is making a Harry Potter  fandom documentary. The Mary Sue reports the documentary will be one hour long and air on the BBC in April; then it will be released online for mass consumption/hysteria. The documentary also promises interviews with Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and J.K. Rowling herself. Plus, Felton's including plenty of fans and cosplayers.  Felton describes this project as an "in-depth look at the world of super fans and these people that have followed franchises."  Not all fans are excited by this news, though. The Daily Dot claims to have "mixed feelings" about Feltons documentary. "We have a severe allergic reaction to the term 'super fan,'" writes one of its authors. It's a term seen as "a meaningless marketing term that promotes a hierarchy of fandom that doesn't actually exist. It pains us to see our old friend Tom buying into the myth that there's something extra-special about fans with more resources than other fans who might love their fandom just as much."  Though the resulting effect of Felton's documentary remains to be seen, one thing is clear: We are all very old now.
