Sia and Daniel Askill make marvelously strange music together — and music videos too. Their latest collaboration is this video for the song "Elastic Heart," and it brings back their bendy "Chandelier" star Maddie Ziegler, tosses her in a life-size birdcage, and pits her against Shia LaBeouf in a sort of interpretive dance-off.
Ziegler's sporting the same blonde bob and leotard from the "Chandelier" video, but it's definitely worse for the wear, and LaBeouf is wearing a matching pair of nude shorts that have seen better days. The emotional subtext of the song is about Sia's stormy relationship with her father, so it makes sense that Ziegler's a stand-in for Sia with LaBeouf as the father figure, and that they go between tenderly playing together, goofing around, and fighting. The last 40 seconds or so of the video is silent and stunning.
Sia will be the musical guest on Saturday Night Live on January 17. Maybe she'll bring Ziegler along!
